Oftentimes with high quality, handmade goods, the price of purchase ends up too high for the majority of people who would enjoy and appreciate the craftsmanship of the product the most. I’ve had the pleasure of featuring makers of anything from $12,000 dining tables to $900 weekender bags–and don’t get me wrong, their products are all 100% worth their weight in gold. The craftsmanship of handmade goods really stands head and shoulders above their commercially mass produced counterparts. The saying “made with love” truly does add a value to the product that is absolutely worth paying for. Unfortunately, this also leaves many people who appreciate the value of the work and dedication behind these products outside in the cold. One of the things that surprised me the most during my visit to PF Candle Co’s downtown Los Angeles studio was how affordable their candles are for how amazing of a product they make. Made in small batches out of high quality soy wax and fragrances, PF Candle Co creates a top grade product at a price that is completely doable for any budget. For the past week or so, I’ve rotated two of their candles on my desk and have been consistently greeted with my office space smelling better than it ever has. A long time lover of DIY and craftsy projects, Kristen fell into candle making in 2008 while living in Austin, TX. Fast forward five years and business has gotten so busy that she now borrows her husband Tom full-time to keep up with the demand for their candles. If you’re interested in sprucing up your space, be sure to check out the their website to see if they are sold somewhere nearby (don’t worry, they sell online as well). You won’t regret it.
